PCDAC's Board of Directors is committed to fulfilling charitable and community development covenants by providing benevolent services for those who have social, economic, educational and spiritual needs. Likewise, PCDAC and its partners, are committed to making a difference in the Garfield Park, North Lawndale and Humboldt Park communities. PCDAC has its primary focus is in three areas: Affordable Housing, Youth Initiatives & Employment Training and Job Placement.
In 2011, PCDAC was awarded tax credits through the City of Chicago's Department of Housing and later constructed 36 units of affordable rental housing at a cost of $13.5 million dollars in the East Garfield Park Community. This construction has provided life-long residents and newcomers to the area, suitable housing at affordable pricing. It is our mission, to facilitate an individual's journey into the American dream, attaining economic stability and fostering community wellness.
PCDAC has extended numerous programs targeting children & youth through anti-violence initiatives & parent leadership training. Philemon Restoration Project offers custodial job training and placement as well as computer literacy, HIV and Aids Awareness and other health related services to ex-offenders in East Garfield Park and other urban communities. The Philemon Restoration Project, through its partnership/linkages with Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS), State of Illinois – Digital Divide, Safer Foundation, Illinois Department of Employment Services, Advocate - Bethany Hospital , St. Paul Community Ministries – Project Pride and the Moore Cleaning Network provide a six week Custodial & Building Maintenance Training- Job Placement Program, and an eight week Computer Literacy Training. Both training tracks include a Life Skills Development component.
